Guidelines

The mark is the road. Recolor it and scale it, but do not change the geometry. These rules keep it recognizable.

Clear space

Keep space around the mark equal to the height of the I-71 stroke (roughly the width of one road on the 30-unit grid). Nothing else, no lockups, in that space.

Minimum size

Do not print or display the full mark below 24 pixels. Below 64 pixels, use the small-size version.

The small-size rule

At small sizes, the four interior routes get too tight to read. Drop them and show the ring with only I-70 and I-71 inside, at a heavier stroke: 1.8 units at 64 pixels, 2.4 at 32 pixels. All the download kit files at 32 and 64 pixels follow this rule.

Do

• Recolor. Route colors can move to the ground for mono uses.
• Scale. Any size at or above the minimum.
• Put it on anything. Windows, walls, cars, arms, mugs.
• Keep the attribution in your footer or credits.

Do not

• Smooth, symmetrize or reproject the geometry.
• Skew, rotate off-axis, or crop the mark.
• Recolor the ring to a route color in the color version.
• Add drop shadows, gradients, glows or bevels.
• Enclose the mark inside another shape or badge.
• Call it the official symbol of Columbus. It is not.

Attribution

The geometry is derived from OpenStreetMap under the Open Database License. Any use of the mark keeps the OSM attribution nearby in a footer, credits page or About screen.
